Horse and rider are nice and straight, but the
horse needs to track up and step under self
and rider. Rider needs to press in to heel.
Horse and rider bent right, (see horses nose
and riders right shoulder) but tracking left.
Horse could be tracking up more. Nice top
line. Rider needs to get heels down.
Rider looking down to the right, horse nice and
straight but, needs to be more ‘through,’ or
stepping up ) tracking up or underneath itself.
Rider looking down to the right, horse needs to
be more through. Rider needs to press heel
down, which will help her to sit up and back thus
encouraging the horse to come more under and
up. Nice elbow to bit connection and inner thigh
or side of leg on horse.
This is horse is nicely stepping underneath itself in an uphill
carriage and the rider has a great supporting outside rein
enabling the horse to come through from the inside hind leg and
be supported and straight in horizontal balance. The rider
appears to be looking down to the right and is a little forward,
however she is tracking right and is nicely positioned right with
her horse. Her heel could be pressed down which may bring her
shoulders back and compete this picture to being a 10
A front view of canter right. Here the rider is looking a bit
too much to the right. She should be positioned and
centered with her horse, Her head is off to the side
(again) and not in betweeen the horse’s ears. Her heel
could still be down (reoccurring theme..). The horse,
however, is still maintaining a good balance on the
outside rein with an uphill balance in his canter and
nicely on the bit with the poll the highest point. Nice
straight line elbow to bit, again.
Horse is canter left and positions to the outside. Rider is
looking up but, the stirrup is on the arch of the foot and
not the ball of the foot which prevents the heel from
going down. Nice contact (elbow to bit position). This
horse is amazing, this rider needs to tweak a few
position errors and she would be more incredible too.
Horse is nicely positioned left and going left. The horse is
supported by the outside rein and is not falling in. The rider’s
head is up and looking where she is going. Hands are a little
wide and too low, and rider is either in jumping position or just
too forward. But, the picture is very harmonious. It appears that
this rider is standing on her toes, and she needs to let the
weight sink into her heels….
Horse is cantering nicely uphill but head is
tilted a bit to the right. See the right ear is
higher than the left ear, thus -head titling.
Rider’s stirrup should be on the ball of their
foot so she can sink the heel down and sit
more into the saddle. Nice lowering of the
haunches, for the horse. Now it is time for the
rider to lower her haunches into the saddle.
Rider’s head is up and looking nicely between
horse’s ears. Good elbow to bit connection.
